A quick test of the Canon 550D video mode. Cut and Graded in After Effects, footage stabilised in Virtual Dub with DeShaker plugin. I’m amazed by the video performance of the camera it’s definitely up there with the 5D/7D for video and the price makes it even more of a steal. I’ve tried it on a Hague Mini Motion-Cam Stabilizer which can just take the weight of the 550D and a light lens (I got reasonable results with the kit lens and the 50mm 1.8) but definitely didn’t feel as stable as the diddy GF1 on there.

Got my hands on a little Panasonic Lumix GF1 with the 20mm f1.7 prime lens and I’m loving this camera. I can carry it about everywhere and it has near the start up and auto focus response of a DSLR and the ISO performance is beyond what I expected. MORE »

Testing out the Rode Mono Videomic on the 5D in a few location around London. Overall I’m happy with the audio once taking out alot of the rumbling low frequency. Video after the break.

Producing an education video to accompany an interview with Bacardi B-Live co-ordinators explaining how Microsoft Silverlight was a great platform for streaming multiple video feeds over the internet. Built with Lightwave 3D.

More progress with the little animated short I’m creating “Visiting”. I tried to get the spaceman to sit well in some camera tracked footage but it wasn’t really working so I using the camera data and mapped photography of the scene over a simple mesh.
